SFC different shade of grey than SNES?

Post by jinxmitchell »

I've been applying retrobrite to a lot of my old gaming stuff and I can't seem to get the Japanese stuff as grey as the American stuff. Is the Super Famicom a slightly different color than the Super Nintendo?

Yes it is. In my experience, Super Famicom games don't yellow as much or in the same rate.

I have some SFami games with really ugly yellow cases. SNES wise at worst I have some with a slight yellow tinge.

I've gotten really yellow of both, but I've never seen a JP controller get as light grey as a US one. I've only seen about ten, so that might not mean anything.

Whoops, I made a Freudian slip.

I meant to say that the Super Famciom itself is a slightly different shade of gray and doesn't seem to yellow as much as SNES systems.

On the other hand, games are just as likely to yellow, especially the back plastic part of shells.
