Is this normal for DC with vga box and LCD HDTV?

I have my DC with the vga box hooked up to my lcd. I'm not getting the full screen. There is a black bar on the right side. Is that normal? I tried auto syncing, aspect, etc. Is there a way to fix this or is this just the way it is?

Sounds similar to how my LCD monitor handled it. The auto-syncing feature seemed to completely misread the VGA signal from the console, and even with manual tuning, I couldn't get the picture to go far enough to the right. I don't have this issue with any CRT display that I've tried.
