I got Sega Cd 2 (actually Mega CD 2 since it is European) which keeps burning out the PSUs I use it with. Today I plugged it in again and I smelled burning from the PSU (official MD1 PSU) so I switched it off. It has already burnt out two PSUs before for me - one official and one third party.
Any ideas as to what might be going on?
From my limited knowledge of electronics it would seem to me that the Sega CD is drawing up more power from the PSU than it should. I have no idea why it does that.
Opening it up does not show anything wrong at first sight. All caps look fine and there are no burn marks or anything.
I wonder if using a PSU with a much higher amperage would help. What do you guys think?

Re: Sega CD 2 killing power supplies
Did someone replace the fuse with an improper higher rated one, a piece of wire, or otherwise do a sloppy job and short something? Is there shielding touching anything it shouldn't be?
