OK, so this turned out really weird. Today I got back to my room at college for the first time in a month. I started to reorganize my Game Systems since I got a couple S-Video cords over the break. When I went to test them out to make sure everything was hooked up, the Super Famicom was displaying the picture in Black and White.
So I changed the game and it was still doing it. After that I decided to turn on my Super Nintendo and it appeared in color. Knowing then it wasn't the TV, I went ahead switch the S-Video cords of my Super Nintendo with my Super Famicom. The Super Famicom still showed up in Black and White. So then at the end I said screw it and hooked up the normal AV cable and it still showed up in Black and White.
So now it appears that I'm at a lost on what is going on with it.
Super Famicom displays in B&W
Re: Super Famicom displays in B&W
Since it's at college, maybe your SNES is just going through an experimenting stage.
Re: Super Famicom displays in B&W
Try just cleaning it. Dust accumulation can cause this. A simple swish of can air should do the trick, although don't rule out yet a more thorough cleaning.
Re: Super Famicom displays in B&W
Well I did some cleaning after getting the advice (leaving it alone for a night to dry). Started it up and it seemed ok then, it started to flicker a bit between color and b&w. So I left it alone for a little bit, thinking it would go back to normal. However the thing caught on fire after that (yes, flames and everything. Damaged my broken Atari Jaguar sitting next to it as it too caught on fire). It appears the plug in the back of the system where you plug in everything was damaged, causing it too smoke and catch fire... I think since I can't test the thing anymore. It wasn't the original plug but a replacement plug. Thank god I caught it and only lost a broken Jaguar out of it.

Yeesh, that sucks. At least it wasn't worse, yeah.

This right here is why I never use anything but the original. I know I'm more probably more worried than I should be, but then I read stories like this and it validates my irrational fears.Konacha wrote:It wasn't the original plug but a replacement plug.

Doesn't sound like the AC adapter's fault, he said the jack for the PSU was busted so I think there might have been a short on that end.o.pwuaioc wrote:This right here is why I never use anything but the original. Looks like color subcarrier drifted little bit and your TV can't extract it anymore.Konacha wrote:OK, so this turned out really weird.
