PC benchmarking with the awesome Catzilla!

Post by J T »

I just watched the video and haven't tried the actual benchmark yet, but it's plenty entertaining with or without an install:

Saw this as well. Ran kitty for comparisons sake. I really, really need to OC or replace this CPU. I have the LC for overclocking so it's just a matter of me taking the time to find a good spot for it.

Something just doesn't seem quite right about that score though. Hmm.

Score only drops about 200 points going to the 1280x720 test.

CPU: AMD FX-4100 3.6ghz
GPU: MSI TwinFrozrIII 7950 3gb
RAM: 8gb Corsair DDR3 1600mhz
HDD: 1tb Seagate

Did 720p 'cause that's as high as it'd let me go, unless custom lets you go higher.

i7 3770k/16GB/GTX670

Not sure what it really wants.

Ha! I wanna see this thing in action. I'll benchmark the Windows side of my 2009 Macbook Pro for kicks later and report back!

score of 3,998. not too bad for a old Phenom II dual and a 128-bit GPU. Ram is 1333 and HD is a laptop one, so probably not 7,200rpm.

Okay. So got my replacement CPU so ran this test again. Ran it again on Kitty for consistency's sake. The 8350 just blows the 4100 I had out of the water. Hell, a Phenom II X4 would even beat that piece of junk. As per usual though, AMD processors really don't excel in games. They're incredible value for rendering and other multi-core tasks though. Not that I do many of those.

I'm crossing my fingers that if there are 8 core consoles, we'll get games better optimized for 8 core systems on PC.

you guys have nice setups, which sadly shows me more and more that I really need to replace my old dual core, hoping to replace it with a AMD FX-6300, too bad I will also need a new motherboard though.
