To the Moon

Post by Gamerforlife »

I just wanted to make a thread for this game to get a little attention for it, and to maybe discuss it with people who have played it already. It's a PC exclusive game that you can get through Steam or DRM free through other sites like GOG. It's sort of like a PC point and click adventure game, but with graphics that look like something out of a 16-bit console rpg. It is very story oriented and doesn't offer much in the way of challenging gameplay, but the story is really great, dealing with some adult issues while also throwing in lots of humor along the way. It's certainly one of the most engrossing stories in any game I've played and one of those rare games that actually drew an emotional response out of me

EDIT: The soundtrack is great too and can be purchased

I've bought it by haven't got around to playing it yet. I saw your point n click mention there, can the game be played with a controller as well or just mouse n keyboard?

You can use a controller. It recognized my logitech controller. I think the game plays better with mouse and keyboard though, but you can switch between either option at any time

I really want to grab this up. I keep putting it off, even though the game is incredibly cheap!

This was made with RPG Maker and can really show how those tools can perform. I want story more than anything and am glad to see it as more of an adventure game than a JRPG.

I would almost place it in the category of visual novel more than a game, since there's almost nothing that doesn't simply involve finding the next hot spot/thing to click on, save the little puzzles in between scenes. It's pretty much a matter of exploration = progression.

I'd tend to agree that it's better played via mouse for that reason. Movement might be a little more annoying, but mostly what you're doing is scanning around for things to click on, and the mouse works better for that.

I enjoyed it though. Definitely something to play if you just want story. I could easily see it as a Satoshi Kon movie, were he still alive.

I played the entire thing with a controller, but had to use K&M for the puzzles (just wouldn't work for some reason) and a section toward the end of ACT 2 with the zombies (couldn't shoot, keys weren't mapped).

We're treating this thread as spoilered right?

So, one thing I didn't get, was why Joey suddenly got to live, if River was removed? Also, why did the young John not like olives, but he did later?

I felt like an idiot for not knowing the girl's condition the entire time. I really don't think it was covered properly. I didn't know what was up with her until after I beat the game and was reading some people's impressions of it.
