I just bought a Super Nintendo on ebay, and I'm having some trouble getting it working. Whenever I turn it on, a just get a flash of color, and then just static on my screen. The red light goes on, and I've tested my AV cable with an N64 and a Gamecube, and it definitely works. I also cleaned the cartridge and the game slot.
Any advice?
NOTE: I cleaned the game slot in the same way as you clean the game, with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol. Did I do this correctly?

Re: SNES Help
hiya new person.
Did you let the alcohol dry on the console? Make sure you didn't leave any cotton pieces inside the SNES.
Try cleaning out the games too. Clean out the contacts on the carts. In a pinch you can use rubbing alcohol and q-tips. Others here will tell you to do a thorough cleaning.
Check the console itself, check to see that the A/V input isnt messed up. Does jiggling the cable do anything?
Use an RF cable to see if that works too.
And like always try to use the original plugs. Do you have that?
good luck.

Re: SNES Help
This happened to me before, turning it on and only flashing the light for a bit. After some troubleshooting i found out that the issue was teh AC adapter. AFter buying one online it work flawlessly.

Re: SNES Help
I have a snes like that, the problem is the connector pins, since I'm too lazy to bend them, I just put a folded piece of paper between the cart and the slot so the cart gets pushed back a little.

I have one that I have to shim to get working - so I just keep a few playing cards with it. Im sure its because whoever had it before me did a bad region mod.
