Wii PSX and Neo Geo emulators
Wii PSX and Neo Geo emulators
Does anyone know how to make the Neo Geo and Playstation emulators on the Wii work? Because when I boot up WiiSX, it goes to the menu screen. I pick a game from the load game option (in this case, Gundam Battle Assault 2), and it goes back to the beginning menu, where I hit start game. The opening movie plays... And when it's done, a black screen that I can't exit from unless I turn the Wii off. This kind of thing happened for every psx game I tried. And I didn't even get that for the Neo Geo emulator, GxGeo; when I went to load a game, it said there was no games in the folder (even though there was Metal Slug 2 and Samurai Shodown in said folder), and then two seconds later, the emulator freezes, with some error text.

Do you have the correct BIOS for the PSX and NeoGeo installed?

Re: Wii PSX and Neo Geo emulators
Also (even though I haven't tried them on the Wii) those particular emulators are very finicky.
On my oXBOX, the neo geo emulator is VERY particular about what neo geo roms it will play. I have some old ones from back in like 2000 that seem to work most of the time, but most of the newer ones from the latest MAME builds don't play.
So my guess is that it might not like the roms you have. Not sure on your setup, but possible things to check are whether or not you have the roms in the right directory, are they zipped or unzipped, are they named appropriately for the emulator to pick up? Again, I haven't used this particular emulation, but these are the things I've run into a lot in the past with other emulation.
As for the PSX, is the game you are trying to play compatible? Not every game is, and there should be a list on the Googles. Some games will crash after opening cinemas and stuff, I've seen that a lot. Just some food for thought.

Re: Wii PSX and Neo Geo emulators
In my experience the PSX emulator for the Wii is crap, not worth wasting time trying to get to work and the Neo Emulator is only compatibile with a limited set of games which don't run perfectly.

I like the Wii for emulation and all, but honestly, it's VERY hard to beat the oXBOX. I have a couple of spares just in case my main unit dies. The Wii is very much advanced over the oXBOX, yet the dedication to getting the emulators perfect was never there. So the oXBOX remains pretty much emulation perfect in my book.
I do like the Wii's 240p output, but honestly, the speed of going in and out of menus and using save states is very hampered. The oXBOX does it so much more quickly. And you can pick them up for like $10 a pop all day long it seems.

Re: Wii PSX and Neo Geo emulators
If the games you're trying to play are playable on VC it might be more worthwhile to get a hacked CIOS and just install the VC .WAD files for the Neo Geo VC titles you want to play.
