Sega CDX laser question

Okay, so I bought a CDX off of ebay to fix it up. But the actual problem is different than what the seller described. The laser on the system freely slides back and forth when moving the system, and so forth, it can't read discs. Genny part works fine, like most broken CDX's do, but I feel like this problem can be easily remedied, it's just very difficult to find out how to actually do it. Most of what I see is people saying how hard it is and to give up. Anyone else know how to fix this?
