Good region free DVD players?

Post by Xeogred »

Pretty clueless about what to look for here. I saw some on amazon, but would like to get some opinions first. Cheap and efficient I guess. Mainly looking to play some R3 (Japanese) stuff.

Japan is R2. I know Korea is included in R3.

North Korea = region 5
South Korea = region 3

Looks like they forgot to color South Korea in that picture... lol

On Amazon they didn't even include North Korea on the map.

South Korea is an island...

If you have a Xbox 360, try it out. My Region 2 copy of The Beyond works on mine.

I thought Mexico was part of region 1. I've seen Mexican Xbox games in US Gamestops and K-Marts.

Remember that DVD players that follow the rules will let you switch regions a few times before it locks to a certain one. Microsoft will most definitely be following the rules.

Game regions are different than DVD regions. Blue Ray regions are different too. Regions are stupid.

People on the DVD Verdict forum, which I used to frequent, generally recommended OPPO's region-free players. I have no idea if they have any inexpensive ones though.
