No Atari Lynx Guide

Post by BurningDoom »

Atari Lynx is a handheld I've been contemplating getting. Seems like a great little handheld for the time.

So I went here to RacketBoy to look up the Atari Lynx 101 Guide, Defining Games, and Cheapest Games, and there's no Atari Lynx.

Can I request this?

Anything on Atariage.com?
http://www.atariage.com/software_search ... temID=LYNX

I'm a small fan of the system, 17 carts and two systems:

I remember some love for it at VGS in Illinois, the dealers area was full of stuffs. But your going down a lonely road, Lynx fans are few and far between.

Its a system that I've thinking about getting for a while. I recently had a play on a friends and the quality of the games and the screen was pretty impressive. A guide would be great

Count me in. I still have the one I bought new, box and all, in 1990. I saved money for months to buy that damn thing. I still play it on occasion.

There are lots of "missing" guides for the more obscure systems. I'm sure they'll be added eventually.

Old Atari stuff is tricky to find - with the exception of 2600 games, which seem to be everywhere. I'm not passionate enough about the Lynx to go ebay-hunting for it, but I'd definitely snag a cheap copy at a flea market or yard sale.

I messed around with a Lynx emulator a few years back and as I recall there were some pretty cool games - Ninja Gaiden (a port of the arcade version!), Ninja Gaiden III, Rygar (again, a port of the arcade version), Chip's Challenge, Raiden, and Gauntlet: The Third Encounter.

You crazy. Lynx is hot right now.
We had Zaks and Eye of the Beholder last year.
Recent jagfest previewed some works in progress as well.

The mod scene is very light. I haven't been bold enough to try any screen mods for the lynx, but it despretly needs one. Lynx screen are color, but they are very washed out.

If you were a big atari arcade fan, the games are great ports. They are mostly quick romps too, so they work well with my attention span.

If there isn't a guide, it should be taken as an invitation to write one. Racket hands out assignments from time to time but contributions from the community are always welcome. If the job is too big for one, feel free to team up!
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

This is true.

Ack and I were bouncing one around a couple years ago, but it went no where since my lynx was dead and he doesnt own one. Its an interesting console to me, but I dropped it to work on the Wonderswan article.

Why is the hitbox for the Raiden ship so huge?
It´s like twice the size of the ship. Ridiculous!

I almost feel like maybe we should put the call out for the Racketfolk to write one. We haven't had a cattle call for an article since Noise, I, and some other folk got together to write the Gamecube one.
