Re: different versions of capcom vs snk for dreamcast
I think Pro is an updated version and therefore the best? I'm afraid I'm not a big fan of the series/game, so I'm not sure what exactly the differences are, but I'm guessing they're probably fairly minor.

CvS PRO just added Joe Higashi and Dan Hibiki, new moves, and new modes. That's it. Also, it was only released in Japan for DC and PS1.

The wikipedia article does a pretty good job of explaining it. There are a LOT of different versions of CvS.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

It also gave you all the secret charters at the start. Such as Morgan, Geese, Evil Ruy, Akuma ect. Also some of the stages are different. I think it is worth picking up. I scored the Naomi GD Rom for $12 and I do like it a lot better the first game.ExedExes wrote:CvS PRO just added Joe Higashi and Dan Hibiki, new moves, and new modes. That's it. Modes are identical to the original CVS1. Pro got released outside Japan for the PS1 (but PS1 port is garbage).CvS PRO just added Joe Higashi and Dan Hibiki, new moves, and new modes. That's it. Also, it was only released in Japan for DC and PS1.
Yes! All characters (including every unlockable content from CVS1) is unlocked from the start. No, Stages are identical to the original CVS1.It also gave you all the secret charters at the start. Such as Morgan, Geese, Evil Ruy, Akuma ect. Also some of the stages are different
I make some more detailed indepth observations in what makes CVS Pro different from the original in my respective RDC review if anyone is interested.

Maybe not completely different, but I know for a fact that one stage has different colors, and the construction stage will fall down much faster. Not quite identical in my book. There may be some more changes also.CD AGES wrote:No, Stages are identical to the original CVS1.
I only have experience with the Naomi versions though.

Nope, All stages look identical in CVS1 and CVSpro. No color palette changes made in any of the background. Aside from the game logo changed from Red to Blue, the life gauges from Yellow to Green, and a few effects being downgraded (the Skull effect during Vice's "Nail Bomb" animates poorly in Pro), the games look aesthetically identical.Maybe not completely different, but I know for a fact that one stage has different colors, and the construction stage will fall down much faster. I will take some pics for ya sometime. I never got the top one in CvS only in CvS Pro. Maybe I just did not notice but I know the construction stage will fall down faster also.
