Anybody Played Scorched Earth?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Anybody Played Scorched Earth?

Post by racketboy »

Has anybody played this old game?
It's basically the father of games like Worms and Death Tank.

I saw it was still on my old 286 in my parent's basement.

Possibly the best DOS game ever?

Uh, I dunno about Scorched Earth, but I played something similar in concept.. but with castles.

I loved the game.

If I didn't play the original, I certainly played more than one (distinct) clone of it.
There was one with a lightning cloud that if you fired a shot through would blast you, for example, and loads of nice weapons to buy with the points you got from blasting others.

Great game indeed. Although I have played many great games for DOS as well :)

I have played "Scorched Earth" on a 386. It has simple game play and is still fun. There is a 3D version and I believe it is OpenSource.

On XBOX Arcade

That would be cool !!! Scorched 3D is ported to a bunch of platforms, but not console platforms.
The download is 30 MB or so. I forgot about the Heavy Rollers...

scorched earth, the ultimate party game?

I used to love Scorched Earth. My friends and I would crowd around the computer and play it. I always enjoyed shooting a Death's Head at a high velocity into the sky, which usually resulted in most everyone getting blasted.

Heavy rollers were always my babies. It is one of the three games I usually have installed on all my windows pcs (the other two are Oregon Trail 2.11 and GL_Tron). I have downloaded Scorched 3d atleast six times and have still yet to install it...
