Okay, FINALLY, got a PSP

Post by MrEco »

Well, getting is more like. Anyway.

Thanks to my recent new job I have some spending money. Quite a bit in fact. So, for my birthday which is coming up very soon, I'm buying a PSP and some games.

I want to buy five to start it off with, and already have four figured out:

The 3rd Birthday
Dissidia 012 [duodecim] Final Fantasy
Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together
Final Fantasy IV The Complete Collection

So, what do you all think the fifth game should be? On the one hand I want to have a variety, but on the other hand I really like RPG's. So recommend whatever you think is good.
I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.

Given your avatar, maybe a MGS game (e.g. Peace Walker)?

Actually I already have the HD collection for PS3 (Which includes Peace Walker). But good idea pointing that out.

I really enjoyed Half Minute Hero. It's kind of an RPG, but it's totally different to any you'll have ever played and perfect for short bursts.

If you like RPGs then you need to get Ys I & II Chronicles immediately.

Is there even an argument to be made that the PSP isn't the best console or handheld system for RPGs ever made?
Opa Opa

Well... it doesn't have the Dragon Quest series. Other than that it is a JRPG beast.

It's second best - DS beats it by a nose. 8)

I'd beg to differ. Here's my argument:

http://www.mobygames.com/browse/games/x,50/psp/ (117 games)

http://www.mobygames.com/browse/games/x,50/nintendo-ds/ (126 games)

That seems, on the surface, to confirm your claim - HOWEVER if you discount the multiple releases of a Pokemon game they are about even. IF you also factor in PSN games (PS1 classics and PSP minis + other compatible games) vs the mediocre showing from the DSi shop , it isn't even close...

http://www.mobygames.com/browse/games/x ... tendo-dsi/

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PS ... America%29 (sorry, couldn't find a list of just RPGs).

i would guess that the PSP, with the PS1 Classics and other PSN titles counted, would beat even the 178 made for the PS1:

http://www.mobygames.com/browse/games/x,50/playstation/

both leave the DS in the dust

Yes.

Then get the Castlevania X Collection. Then get the Gradius, Salamander, Parodius and Star Soldier Collections. :)
