Genesis and Saturn price

Post by TheBrick »

I found an offer on craigslist for several consoles from a single seller, but two caught my eye: they were selling a Sega Genesis for $30, and a Sega Saturn for $40. Both apparently are in good condition, and come with two controllers and all hookups, but no games. They were also willing to do a trade for a GBA SP, but I only have one right now.

Good deal? Bad deal? Cautious deal? I'd like to hear your opinions!

Those are both a bit high in my opinion. I wouldn't pay much more than about $35 for a very nice Saturn with several accessories and definitely no more than $15-20 for a Genesis.

If the condition is great, I think those are fair prices . If you buy them both, I'm sure you can get a few dollars off.

The Genesis you could probably get cheaper, maybe $20. They're quite cheap and common. But the Saturn is a good price. They go for $50-$75 online in working condition with the hook-ups and a controller.

If it were me and I didn't already have one, I 'd go for the Saturn. And if I didn't know where to readily get a Genesis and didn't already have one, I'd pay the extra $10 for the Genesis. Great system and it's worth that extra $10 if you can't get a hold of one cheaper.

Well, I really only have access to amazon, because the person with the credit card in my house hates ebay. On amazon, the cheapest genesises (genesi?) are just the console, without wires or controllers. They go for about $20, and the required cables and a controller add at least $10. For Saturns, they usually go for at least $50 per replacement console. I made this thread basically to ask if I'm being ripped off.

The Genesis seems a tad high while the Saturn seems a tad low. They average out to a pretty decent price. For what it's worth, I paid about $55 for a Saturn some years ago.

Buy both and ask the seller if they will go $10-20 lower if you're buying both of them. :)

yeah both of those for $60 would be a pretty solid deal, imo.

Good prices especially the Saturn. Could you probably find a better deal on the Genesis maybe. However why squabble over $5 or $10 buying it online. Once you include shipping etc and at least buying it from this person you can test both system's and make sure they work. Saving you the hassle of having to return, package, run to post office wait in line to return a faulty system. So i think its a good deal for both and maybe he'll knock off $10 if you buy both.

*Update*: I ordered the Saturn, and the seller is supposed to deliver it by Saturday or so. Maybe I'll finally get around to updating my collection pics then. Been meaning to for a while...
