Replacing a Dreamcast Spindle
Replacing a Dreamcast Spindle
I just won a Japanese Dreamcast cheap on Ebay. The descriptions says it's in perfect working order except for the spindle which needs replacing/repairing. Does anyone have any advice, or links that could help me fix/replace the spindle? I have another Japanese Dreamcast that came with no cables so if I have to I can use the spindle from that..

Is there something special about this one? Otherwise, why wouldn't you just buy cables for your other one?GagaMan wrote:I just won a Japanese Dreamcast cheap on Ebay. Also, what part of the DC actually defines the region?

It turned out that buying the cables and step down converter would cost more than this system did. Also, this one I bought has been modified to not need a step down converter so it can use the British plug with no problems.
When running a disc, the system will spin the disc slowly and click a lot, then give up. Is it the motor?

I bought my DC in the UK, and it was really very cheap. I think you can get a barebones one (no games etc) with leads for like 15 GBP, maybe less on ebay. Is there a reason you want a japanese one?GagaMan wrote:Bah, looks as though both of the Japanese Dreamcasts I have have very simular disc spinning problems. The DC I just bought was modded with a British power board inside the system hence why it had no step down converter. Looks like a pointless effort this =/
