Sega Saturn Arcade Ports , which of these are good ?
Re: Sega Saturn Arcade Ports , which of these are good ?
I'm pretty sure Metal Slug suffers from some significant slowdown, similar to Kaitei Daisensou. Other than that, I don't think there's anything on your list that isn't of a significant level of arcade accuracy. I've never played the US releases of Puzzle Bobble (Bust-a-Move) though, so as long as there isn't any differences between the localizations, they should be good too.

Re: Sega Saturn Arcade Ports , which of these are good ?
I think Metal Slug plays fine. It's great port imo and I can't recall any slowdown.
I also have Street Fighter Alpha 2 and that's a thumb up.

Excellent port. Nearly arcade perfect. Needs a ram cart.s8n wrote:Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter
Thumbs up to all of these. The only reason not to get any of these would be the compilations on the PS2 and the extreme expense of SFZ3 for the Saturn.Street Fighter Alpha
Street Fighter Alpha 2
Street Fighter Zero 3
Thumbs up to these, too. Very, very close to arcade perfect and way better than their PSX counterparts.Vampire Savior
X-Men vs. Street Fighter
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
Re: Sega Saturn Arcade Ports , which of these are good ?
great info guys thanks very much , anymore knowledge on the other titles is appreciated
Re: Sega Saturn Arcade Ports , which of these are good ?
Oh, hmmm. I haven't really played the arcade version much, but when I was playing around with Metal Slug on the Saturn, I got a fair amount of slowdown during the first level boss, and in some spots before that while riding the metal slug. Definitely not on the level of slowdown in Kaitei Daisensou, but noticeable, anyway.Reprise wrote:I think Metal Slug plays fine. It's great port imo and I can't recall any slowdown.
You should definitely get Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, though. It's one of my favorite puzzlers, and the Saturn is my preferred version, though I haven't really played the DC version--which added some other gameplay modes (eg x-mode, v-mode, z-mode).

A wonderful port! Loading is super quick.Bust-A-Move 2 - Arcade Edition
An excellent port. Some minor framerate dips that only occur during some visually intense moments but nothing drastic that will ever effect gameplay.Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter
Please check my comparison review for Alpha 2 on the Saturnc as well as other major home portsStreet Fighter Alpha 2

A bit more prone to some framerate dips than it's successor (especially when Wolvie, Jugg and Sabretooth is concerned) but still the most solid port of the arcade. Keep in mind that the SAT port is based on the revision 3. This version is almost nonexistent in the Arcade as the community heavily favors revision 2 of the game so plenty of infinite combos from the arcade aren't possible in the Saturn version.X-Men vs. Street Fighter
I can't speak of the rest as I've had little time with them.
Re: Sega Saturn Arcade Ports , which of these are good ?
It does have slowdown, but I'm pretty sure that the slowdown is also present in the arcade version.pierrot wrote:I'm pretty sure Metal Slug suffers from some significant slowdown
Re: Sega Saturn Arcade Ports , which of these are good ?
All of those games are excellent releases. The only game I can't speak on is Dungeons and Dragons. Capcom in general was one of the best (if not the best) third party supporter of the Saturn and their games were pretty much all top notch.
Like others have said, the only thing that would keep me from owning any of the non-exclusive titles is their cost. Vampire Savior, MSHvSF, XvsSF, Cyberbots are all exclusives that should be no brainer purchases.
