First post. Need help configuring a CRT (horizontal bow)

Post by BlackFalcon448 »

Hi all! This is my first post on the racketboy forums, so I hope I'm posting this in the right section. Anyway, I recently got my hands on 32'' Sony Triniton flat CRT TV which I plan to use for retro games.

After cleaning the TV up physically, I noticed the geometry was pretty out of alignment so I ventured online and was able to find the service manual for my particular line of TV (finding a pdf scan of a non-public service manual for a 12 year old tv was probably the hardest thing I've ever had to find on the internet ever)

So basically, I used a combo of looking at old games and an older AVIA disk to fix the overscan issues and basically get the TV looking as best it can. One problem I can't seem to figure out how to fix is that the TV seems to have a horizontal bow to the picture, especially toward the top middle edge. You would think that you could fix this in the service mode, but there seems to only be a vertical bow adjustment, so I'm at a loss.

The TV looks great but with games that have text at the very top I get a problem where in the middle of the TV the text in alligned properly and on the edges it slants down showing the overscan area. I'm wondering of anyone has any insight to this problem, and again I hope I'm posting this in the right section.

Thnaks again!
