Streets of Fury

Post by Gamerforlife »

This is a pretty awesome little gem of a beat 'em up I just discovered thanks to a recommendation from someone who read the Undiscovered Beat 'em ups article. It's a Microsoft Indie games title. I'm VERY impressed with it. It's got Mortal Kombat style digitized actors in it, a cool soundtrack and a VERY deep combat system. You guys should check it out! I think it even has a built in achievement system! Multi-player, extra difficulty settings and unlockable characters, videos, etc.

I should have put this in the Fighter section. If any friendly mods would like to move it

Yeah, I can see the resemblance to that game. It's amazing how solid the controls and gameplay are in Streets of Fury. You sort of think a game with digitized graphics like this would have flimsy gameplay, but it's on par with any decent beat 'em up. The AI is decent too. Even cannon fodder guys will start blocking your attacks. I played one stage where I had AI controlled gang members fighting with you, which was cool. There's a cool bonus stage where they flood the screen with tons of enemies and let you use your super attacks as much as you want on them.

I was skeptical about trying an obscure indie game, but I saw some good stuff about it through google and youtube and I don't regret purchasing it. I think it only cost like three dollars in Microsoft points too. So I got another beat 'em up to play besides Double Dragon Neon

This part is so hilarious
