He is using a Nook Simpetouch reader, which runs android, and installed a no refresh mod. Its less a question of practicality, and more of a statement of how awesome it is.

That is indeed impressive.
Those screens are not prepared for this kind of thing at all. The impressive feat is the no refresh mod, the emulators are just regular Android stuff, although choosing to run the games gives the videos some extra flashiness (even though the framerate sucks).

It's amazing that a nook can run emulators, but God that looks like a torture to play.
Also, the Super Mario World video is the GBA version of SMW.

I think it would be fine for an RPG, but yeah it looks painful. Pokemon actually looks pretty good on it.
