I've had this game for a while, but only just now got a new battery for it. I installed it, and nothing. The gameboy won't read it. I took out the battery, and the gameboy still can't read it. The Nintendo logo is garbled up when the thing is turned on and won't go past that. I've tried it on a GBP, GBA, and a GBA SP and none of them can read it. They will all read my other games fine.
I have no idea how to fix this. I don't know enough about Gameboy games so I'm asking here what I could do. I'm guessing there is something wrong with the contacts, but they all look fine. I cleaned them, and even propped them up so they would make a better connection and Silver still can't be read. Any help would be much appreciated.

So, between this and your Genesis thread, do you live somewhere that static buildup is a big problem?

This may be a long shot but I would suggest reflowing the solder joints on all the pins on the ROM chip(s) inside the cart. I had a Super Mario Land 2 cart and a copy of SMB Deluxe that suddenly stopped working, and reflowing the pins on the ROMs actually brought them back to life.
Also make sure that you didn't accidentally bridge anything while installing the new battery.

I had this problem with a copy of Pokemon Gold. Simply cleaning the inside with an antistatic cloth seemed to fix it.

I'd suggest to just get a new one. If the battery died, you've lost your save data anyways.
