What kind of arcade cabinet is this?

Post by Yancakes »

This cabinet is up for free on a local craigslist-type site, being advertised for parts so I guess it doesn't work. I've just never seen a cabinet angled like this before.

EDIT: I don't know why this picture is sideways, it was right when I uploaded it and the preview in imgur is upright O_o

The dual joysticks help narrow it down a bit, but I don't think i've ever seen one like that. Could be some kind of conversion?

That's not dual joystick. That's a four player cabinet. The dual monitor setup reminds me of the X-Men 6 player cabinet.

You're right, I couldn't see those red buttons, but there's definitely a start button for each joystick.

I think that might be 6 players though. It looks like you're seeing the front and one side of it.

EDIT: The MAWS database would really come in handy right now, but it doesn't seem to be working...

EDIT 2: On second thought yeah Mr. Popo is right that's a 4p cab.

MAWS has been down for like a year now, unfortunately. :(

Honestly if I had a garage or whatever I would probably just go pick this thing up. Damned apartment life.

Damn, I have it on the tip of my tongue. It's a konami sports game. Speedball, battleball, or something similar, it's not a real sport. Apparently the game is pretty good and well regarded.

It's not highly demanded but it's unique and it has it's fans. Someone will want it.

Except that it's in a tiny city like 45 minutes north of Victoria... which is on an island, so no one will take it and, best case scenario, it will wind up being torn to pieces for parts by the few people on the island who DO have arcades lol :\

Couldn't find anything using konami and sports as searches.

I think I've seen this, it might be a boxing game. Check out the movie Blank Check 90s movie, there is a similar arcade cabinet to that particular machine.

Not the same cabinet. I'm also 100% sure it's a game about pushing a ball, like football or rugby or what have you.

EDIT: Asked in KLOV.
