Dark spot/Dead Pixels on Samsung LED
I just received a beautiful 40-inch Samsung LED HDTV (UN40EH6000) from Amazon about a week ago. When I first used it, it showed no signs of dead pixels or dark blemishes. Everything was shaping up pretty well, until today when I noticed a dark spot upon the screen. It does not look like a dead pixel, but like a small dark fuzzy spot on the scrren.
I tried cleaning it, but it still did not go away. I even tried "massaging" it or applying pressure as some people suggest. I may have made it worse, as another blemish and a dead pixel appeared. My fault I guess.
I'm looking into seeing if I can have it replaced, if not, what action should I take? The TV really looks good otherwise.

You mean you tried the pen trick? If the do-it yourself fixes disn't help I'd exchane it. That's why I'm weary of buying something big AND expensive online.

If you have a series 6 LCD, then the dark spot you're experience is not uncommon - the Samsung in our bedroom suffers from a "dark spot" or purple haze. There's a thread over at AVS forums that may shed some light (I haven't read too much into myself).

I exchanged it. I won't buy anything of that size from the internet again, the shipping costs was a big waste of money.
It was a good tv, though some games I play didn't run as smoothly as I hoped. It was 120hz and its' smoothness clearly seemed to be reliant on the framerate of the game I was playing. For example, Darksiders II on the PS3 looked like garbage most of the time when it was constantly in motion. On the other hand, the remasted Shadow of the Colossus for the PS3 looked fantastic. Great for xbox 360 shmups as well!
I'm still looking for a large LCD/LED TV for upgrade. I am debating whether that 60hz or 120hz is what is ideal to go with. I have read a lot of conflicting discussions about it and still I'm unsure. Most likely I'm going to go with a 60hz TV, atleast 32', because it seems not worth the cost for something so inconsistent as the 120hz tvs.
Ideally, I'm looking for a tv that minimizes ghosting and blurring as much as possible without the input lag.

How is 120hz inconsistent? Just turn the garbage filters off. 120hz is ideal because it allows proper playback of 24hz film.

This, you can turn all that "motion enhancement" stuff off. No reason to go for 60hz over 120.ZenErik wrote:How is 120hz inconsistent? Just turn the garbage filters off. 120hz is ideal because it allows proper playback of 24hz film.

True, but on my tv there were only options for the "motion plus" feature something or other. I'm assuming that it would change the TV back to 60hz.

Yeah. That's pretty much what it does, except you can still watch Blu Ray in proper 24hz.DomitorInvictus wrote:True, but on my tv there were only options for the "motion plus" feature something or other. I'm assuming that it would change the TV back to 60hz.
