Favorite games of 2012 so far

Post by Gamerforlife »

So we're getting close to the end of the year, the big holiday season will be upon us soon. I'm curious as to what games you've been most impressed by this year. I'll probably edit the topic title to just "favorite games of 2012" at the end of the year, but I'm curious to see what everyone's top games are so far. One look at the games beaten thread shows that you guys have beaten lots of stuff, but what games that specifically came out this year have impressed you a lot? My top 3 right now are The Simpsons Arcade XBLA/PSN release, Lollipop Chainsaw, and Dust:An Elysian Tail.

Honestly, not a lot.

Awesomenauts
Counter Strike: Global Offensive
Tribes: Ascend
Kingdoms of Amalur

...

I think those are the only new releases I've really enjoyed this year.

Mass Effect 3 and Xenoblade I guess. Nothing else from this year alone really jumps out at me. There's a handful I'm pretty excited about later in the year though, Halo 4, Borderlands 2, and Dishonored.

Probably the most disappointing thing for me this year is the lack of single player games I've found to enjoy, and the lack of console games. I want to give my PS3 some love but haven't found anything yet (except Journey, which I plan to get soon).

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend (PS3 & Vita)
Disgaea 3 (Vita)
Guild Wars 2 (PC)
Lumines Electric Symphony (Vita)
Persona 4 Arena (PS3)

I expect to add Hatsune Miku: Project Diva f (Vita) to this list in a week. It's my most anticipated game so far. And we'll see how Aquapazza goes.

I also played through Tales of Graces f but definitely not a favorite. And so far Xenoblade is OKAY but not super enthusiastic about it.

2012 has been a bad year for games so far. All I've bought is Xenogears.

Journey for me, no doubt - what an amazing experience; better made that I read no previews or reviews before playing it. One of kind.

2012 has not been very impressive.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
