Video Game Price Chart Site
Video Game Price Chart Site
Found a site that tracks prices of new and used video games & accessories daily
http://videogames.pricecharting.com/
They take samples from eBay, Amazon, and Half.com and they also have search links built in for each item.
Just wanted to throw this out there and see your opinions. I think they do a pretty good job.

We've had this thread several times (I've made it myself before, in fact), so you can expect it to be locked or merged I would imagine. But yes, the site is a very useful and interesting resource. I've been a frequent user for years now.

Re: Video Game Price Chart Site
I've posted lots of stuff from that site since I found it a while ago as well.
This site is a double edged sword.
You can get the best price over time for that game your looking for and save a few bucks.
But some garage/yard sale sellers see this site and want to charge you what they see posted there. Its easier than ebay, so if some normal seller finds this, weird ideas get in their head and all of a sudden they are an expert seller.
I think the guy that runs this site has a IRL business somewhere. He started out with just games, but now he is expanding to dvds and other stuff.
Click on the bottom right side and you can see his collecting articles/blogs.

Indeed, pretty much every time a new person shows up on the board just to ask "what is game X worth I found in a box of stuff from my parent's house?" before they disappear never to return, we say to visit http://www.videogamepricecharts.com/ (which now redirects to your link) or to check finished ebay auctions.

VGPC's a cool site. Owner's always upgrading stuff on it, so it just keeps getting better and better.
He's really friendly and is quick to respond to emails about suggestions/issues etc.

I think VGPC does a fair job, but could be better if there were a way to really assess the complete market picture. Gamestop, Wallymart, Best Buy sales for example. It would be impossible to include Craigs List, Thrift Stores and Swap Meets which have better prices overall. Once in a while even a Retro game store has better prices.

I think what you want this site to do and what the site's actually trying to do are two different things.

@CRTGamer:
Why would you take Gamestop, Best Buy, and Wal-Mart pricing into consideration? Who needs pricing on games that have an MSRP and are readily available at retail stores.
Pretty sure people are using VGPG for retro games, and they are taking samples from places that sell retro games.
Its not the "Best Price", its an average. If it took lowest and highest sales into account, it would be completely useless, as it would not portray what you are likely to get/pay for it.

Re: Video Game Price Chart Site
I'm not saying VGPC is bad, but when I see a post (as in Exed Eyes OP) stating its the best option to get the best prices, I have to raise a flag. Look at that Rose game I just mentioned, the price on Amazon does not even match the VGPC. For that matter the VGPC Gamestop listing does not take into account a Power rewards reduced price, which most gamers invest in. The VGPC is great to use as a reference to sell stuff since that is where most strictly online buyers look. For one purchasing stuff there are definitely better avenues.

Re: Video Game Price Chart Site
Again though, that only applies to pricing games that are still being sold, in which case why even look up a pricing guide? Just call Gamestop, its going to most likely be cheapest there.
To expect the site to change is pricing on current gen games based on price fluxuation, sales, and rewards memberships is just asking too much. Those games change in price weekly, and the information as to their current retail value is readily available elsewhere.
However, when pricing something like a ps1 game, you are going to get a much more accurate picture of what the game goes for, as its price does not flux weekly, and it is not readily available in retail stores. Thus, for these games, a comparison of ebay, amazon, and half should be enough.
Thats what I think at least. And Exed's comment was that the site takes avergaes from the 3 sites where he goes to find the best prices, not that VGPG HAS the best prices. I don't think he was trying to impy that this is and end-all be-all pricing guide.
