Wii games that dont use Wiimote....

Post by wclem »

Well I would like to enjoy some regular Wii games. Are there any that do not need that annoying Wiimote? Any that use classic or gamecube controller?

No, there are no wii games that use the classic controller or gamecube controller. Classic controller only exists to tease you.
I know Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart Wii support both. Plenty of other games out there too.

Most Wii games, the motion controlling is mostly optional.

Are you just looking for games that have simplistic motion requirements, or like ... they can't use the Wii remote period?

A Boy and His Blob
Castle of Shikigami 3
Geometry Wars Galaxies
GoldenEye
Guilty Gear Accent Core/Plus
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Punch-Out!!
Super Mario Galaxy 1/2
Super Paper Mario
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom
Metal Slug Anthology
Mario Kart Wii
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Monster Hunter Tri

All have either optional motion control, or the "waggle" is unobtrusive and is relegated to merely a light shake.

There's some pointing in Paper Mario, but it's done very well and isn't critical in accuracy.

Games that I can play 100% classic control or GCN control.

Mario Galaxy is classic control compatible?

By the way, can you tell I know little about the Wii.

REmake for Wii lets you use a classic controller or GC controller. I think you have to do a trick like plug it in after the game has started however.

Trackmania also doesn't use motion control, it just uses the wiimote as a standard controller like in New SMB.

Fire Emblem also uses the controller like that.

Or you could just get over it and play some really fun Wii games that have motion controls.

Xenoblade. Apparently, you CAN somehow play with the Wiimote, but I seriously thought it was classic controller only for the longest time.

It should be CC only. The camera system really was a chore when using the Wiimote+chuk. Plus the thing that kinda sucks about Xenoblade, if you start with the Wiimote, you have to go all the way back to the main menu if you want to switch controllers. I forgive the programmers, as they made an awesome game. ;)

Wii games I own (that are worth playing) that don't require the Wiimote or Nunchuck:

Shikigami no Shiro 3/Castle of Skikigami 3 (shmup)
Masamura: The Demon Blade (2D action RPG with a heavy focus on sheer beautiful art direction)
Tatsunoko vs Capcom (awesome 2D fighter)
Megaman 9 and Megaman 10
Cave Story

that said, there ARE games that use the Wiimote extremely well and once you get used to it, you'll love them too:

Metroid Prime Trilogy
Trauma Center games, especially Trauma Team
House of the Dead 2+3 Return
Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon
