Getting my second Sega Console, any reccomendations?
I already own a Dreamcast, and I want to turn to Sega to get my first pre-6th generation console. I want a console with a good library and affordable games. It would also be great if you could recommend some games for the console you mention.

Wait, your username and signature are littered with pokemon, a 2nd party franchise for Nintendo, and you want your first pre 6th generation console to be a Sega one?AmericanMuffin wrote:I already own a Dreamcast, and I want to turn to Sega to get my first pre-6th generation console. Why not just get an N64 instead, get some good pokemon spin offs and some of arguably the best games ever made.
If your still adamant on Sega though, just get a Genesis. Sega only released 4 consoles in their console making lifetime, you already own one, the Saturn flopped, the Master System never had a chance against the NES, so might as well get a Genesis. You get the best sonic games, streets of rage, toejam and earl, etc.

Good library and affordable games? Genesis, Genesis Genesis Genesis
Get a Sega Genesis!
There are tons and tons of dirt cheap yet excellent games out there for it.
Racketboy's list is good: http://www.racketboy.com/retro/sega/gen ... s-under-10

yeah kid, get a genesis.
So many games out there. And you can get them even cheaper if you dont have the case.
Go to the sega sections in the forums and see all the cool stuff you could eventually have.
I'm sure many people here have trade lists that you can go through too.

If you're set on Sega, I say Genesis as well.

Yup, Genesis. The library is excellent, pretty much everything is on the cheap-side (even CIB), and there are TONS of hidden gems.
If you're looking for games, this thread should help: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... &hilit=200
Plus, if you get bored with the console (which would be pretty difficult) then you can easily grab a Sega CD or 32X to expand your library even further.

So I guess Genesis it is. What model should I get? I'm looking at Model 2.

Genesis - but keep in mind there are nice collections that are much cheaper. Unless it's for collecting purposes, try Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, Sonic Gems collection, etc. Save yourself a lot of money and view the games over HD connections.

Well, this was just recently http://racketboy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=38661 asking the same question.AmericanMuffin wrote:So I guess Genesis it is. What model should I get? I'm looking at Model 2.
Personally, I'm partial to the model 2 + CD 2, just 'cause it's a cleaner setup.
Though, I would second Valkyrie-Favor's point regarding collections. The $15-20 that Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection costs won't come close to buying all the games it includes in cartridge form, and might be a good way to get a taste of what the system offers before making more of an investment. There are still tons of 3rd party titles, CD titles, etc that aren't on it to look forward to later if you like it.

Good library, affordable games.... yeah, Genesis is the answer here.
honestly, there are so many great guides to check out reguarding good games for the Genny. If you want to ask for games in a specific genre though, I am sure many people here will have great suggestions.
