Which system to get for Capcom vs SNK 2

Post by mas »

Hi Everyone,
I want to pick up capcom vs snk 2 but I don't know which version to pick up. I own a dreamcast,ps2,gc. Which was the better version. I also own a hori controller for the cube so the controller is ok for the gamecube.
I just feel that dreamcast was the best for 2d games for that generation that's why I'm asking because the import is kind of expensive compared to the other platforms

The PS2 Version is the one I got most used to.

I havent really played the GC version. But I think I've read that the GC has simplified controls. Some of the moves are mapped to the c-stick, I think.

I have the Dreamcast game, but burned tho. Still fun, But I'm just used to PS2 controls. Most of the games text is still in japanese. But you can get around.

But you are going to use special controlers so this may not bother you.

the games are totally different with an arcade stick.

From best to worst:

1. Dreamcast Port
2. PS2 Port
3. Xbox port
4. Gamecube Port

My neighbor has the gamecube port. Unless you have a special controller, just don't.

PS2 is the accepted standard for tournaments. Mainly b/c most folks had PS2 sticks when it was still hot. It's a bit faster than the Dreamcast release, but you can speed up the DC.

Correct, the PS2 version (original 1st release only to be extact) is the perfered tournament standard as its simply a convenience factor of PS2 arcade sticks being the norm in tourneys.

With respects to gamespeed, It was to my understanding that both versions are equally faster (by default) than the arcade Naomi version. Tournament play speed for both versions is set at 2 star speed than the default 3 stars. It makes the game a tad slower than the arcade version, but nevertheless the closest speed setting to that of the arcade version!

They're WAY too strong to compete, I mean what's up with these guys!

More often than not, I see it for even cheaper on ebay sometimes!

While on the subject. ReviveDC Project just the other day rolled out their 100th RDC release special.

You can see my review for the game real soon on their blogspot. Also please check out my other reviews for previous RDC releases while you're there. Thanks everyone!
