Together Retro: Gunstar Heroes

Post by noiseredux »

It's a day early, but I always tend to start a new TR title on the weekend before the 1st anyway.

Who's playing Gunstar, and which port? I ended up downloading the XBLA version myself. In the past I've played a fair share of the GBA semi-sequel, and very little of the original game (it was on the PS2 Treasure Box last time I tried it). I'm looking forward to having a reason to pay the game more attention than I have given it in the past.

Nope, it's not. It is on a PSP compilation though I do believe.

Anyway, I have this on Wii VC and have beaten it lots and lots of times. It's not one I'm excited about exactly because I'm used to how good it is. So to spice things up, I thought I'd play through with some different weapons sets for a change - my usual being Fire/Fire combo, and my back-ups if I can't find a second fire usually being fire/laser or fire/chaser. Anyone like to suggest a combo for me to try using this time through? I might also try fixed shot for a change, as I am very much a free shot man normally.

You're right, it doesn't appear to be on any of the collections.

I'm pretty sure it's just Genesis, PS2 (on Treasure Box, JPN) and then on PSN/XBLA (and maybe VC?).

Gunstar Heroes is one of my absolute favorite Genesis games, I'll try to fire it up tomorrow or the next day. I'll shake it up by not using the classic rapid/homing combo (it's pretty unstoppable from what I remember).
