According to Wikipedia, PAL Turbografx consoles were never really properly released back in the day (kinda like NTSC Amiga CD32)
In the United Kingdom, Telegames released a slightly altered version of the US model simply as the TurboGrafx around 1990 in extremely limited quantities.[2] Although there was no full-scale PAL region release of the system, imported PC Engine consoles were largely available in France and Benelux through major retailers thanks to the unlicensed importer Sodipeng (Société de Distribution de la PC Engine, a subsidiary of Guillemot International).[3]
I got mine for 40 euros CIB, brand new from a German game store and I couldn't believe my eyes! Apparently there are plenty of cheap, boxed PAL Turbografx consoles around nowadays. Why is that? Was there an abandoned warehouse with a bunch of unsold/unreleased Turbografx consoles recently found or what?

^ The fact that shipping is free within the UK means it isnt like they're trying to surcharge people there to avoid eBay taking a larger cut. Really weird.

I have one of these very same TG16's, they seem pretty legit, I wondered where they suddenyl came from myself. They play US games, although they play at 50hz. They aren't compatible with PC Engine games, at least as far as I know.

The copy of Blazing lazers packed in with the console is American and works fine on the console naturally. The game is a normal Turbografx-16 game printed in USA, while the PAL Turbografx doesn't have the number 16 in the end like American consoles. They're also gray rather than black. http://digitalbattle.com/2009/07/15/jap ... 16-titles/
It looks like that
Is the Turbografx "sticker" on your console loose? Mine is, even though it was brand new when I opened it The glue they used has probably deteriorated over the years?

Well I've learnt something, I always assumed that the TG was the 8bit predecessor to the 16. So if I get one of these the US games will work with it and if I can find a Hu card convertor I can play the PC engine games on it. Thats def worth a purchase I reckon.
