Creepy Game Coincidences

Post by o.pwuaioc »

Has anyone played the old PC game Risk? Not it's more popular Risk II, but the one released in 1997 with both the original board and Ultimate Risk. I decided to play a game last night. I usually choose the Ultimate option, since it's a more dynamic and strategic game (generals, forts, capitals, strategy cards, and an algorithm or two rather than dice). One of the maps to choose is Europe. I always choose the French empire, since they're represented by my favorite color, blue. The other teams are the Austrian empire (white), Prussian (black), British (red), Ottoman (purple), Mameluke (brown), Russian (green), and Spanish (yellow). I had defeated everybody else already, and all was left were the Prussians. Forts crumbled, the capital was taken, their land shrunk, and all that was left was a single general. Having surrounded him on all sides, I attacked. What made my jaw drop was what the game told me afterward: "You have defeated the Duke of Weimar." This was the very last general of the very last army on its very last piece of territory. It felt like the game was saving my evil self for last.

(For those with whom I have not conducted business, that's my last name!)

Edit: I guess I forgot to say this part: "Has any creepy or really coincidences happened to any of you?"

I don't think it's likely that I'll face off against an enemy from Czechoslovakia or it's resulting republics with my last name so I don't think I'll have a similar 'whoa' moment as you.

No I gotcha. I just can't think of any right now and I don't think I'll ever have the name thing happen to me.

the whole begining of the game HOMEFRONT.

A month or two ago My friend and I bought it used and decided to play it together.

The whole story set up with KIM JONG IL and his death and his sons then rule seemed creepy.

Kims death happened a few days before we bought it.

And hearing and watching the intro, we both gasped and were surprized by the story outline.

the story was more interesting than the average/mediocre game

Deus Ex ended up being prophetic about 9/11. The skyline in the game, which was developed in 2000, is sans twin towers.

True story. Alone in a motel room. Given that, unusually sober. Playing Texas Hold 'Em on Clubhouse Games for the DS. An episode of 'Roseanne' is randomly on the TV. I notice that the plot involves Dan and his buddies having a poker game. Not exactly synchronicity, whatever.

Paying more attention to my game. Hear dialogue from the show, something like "... All in, what do ya got?"

The computer deals me a new hand. Two fives. Glance up at the TV.

At that moment, a character clearly says "... all I got are two fives...."

Fucking. Weird.

The fun thing is that the twin towers were left out to save memory.

Nice try, but Urban Strike did it first.
