Hi,
Since I bought a multi s video for my dreamcast I tried the ps1 on my flat screen and it doesn't look to bad. I have been playing the ps all day today. The 2d fighters look good and I was playing tekken 3 and smackdown 2 and wcw mayham and they looked ok on a flat screen.
I want to try out the resident evil series. I want to know since there are alot of them out there which should I start out first? Now I do have the wii/gamecube and dreamcast and it will cost the same if i get r.e on wii, cube, dreamcast but I want to experience it on the playstation the way it was ment to be played.
Is there a differenca between the director's cut and dual shock version's of the games between the resident evils? And which one should I start off with or do I have to go in order. Also how good is resident evil survivor?
Which resident evil should i start off with

Survivor is apparently not very good.
I'd say just start out with the original.

capcom milked this series in the early ps era.
The directors cut RE has moved a few things from the orginal.
The Directors cut Dual shock edition is the same game but you can use rumble and analog control. If you dont like Dpad then get this one.
It doesnt improve much tho, its still got tank controls.
Go ahead and play part 1 before you get to RE 2. You can play 2 first, but if you do, part one wont excite you as much. RE 2 went over the top and is my fave. RE 2 is two discs and 1 and 3 are single discs.
Resident Evil 3 seems shorter, only because RE 2 was two discs and has multiple playthroughs.
Dreamcast/GC editions of 2 and 3 have better, sharper graphics but its still the core gameplay.
If you can come across them cheap get them. They are plentiful since it was a popular series.
Another similar series that you can try out is DINO CRISIS.

K thanks i will try the first resident evil. If I can't gat the original then I'm going just take the director's cut. But I saw vids from part 2. Now I see why everybody wanted the game soo bad back in the day. I'm sure people are still playing the series from the ps1 era now.

Get the original on Gamecube. Same game, but so much better looking and the cheese is removed.

This. The game is still amazing graphics wise and is much easier to play then the PS versions. Damn now I wish I could pay it.BoringSupreez wrote:Get the original on Gamecube. Same game, but so much better looking and the cheese is removed.

I don't know, I thought while it was the same setting, same story, it was by far from being the same game. It kicks way more ass then the original but I felt that there were enough changes that it wasn't even close to being the same.BoringSupreez wrote:Get the original on Gamecube. That being said, I say go with the original on PS1 first. Like the original, original, not the Director's Cut. I still play through it once in a while for kicks because I love it so much.

Yeah the original is still great and worth playing.
Re: Which resident evil should i start off with
The Gamecube version is the better than the original, but there's enough different so that you can play both and not have it feel like you're just doing the same thing.
So if you want to play the original before the remake, go for it.
I don't know too much about the different versions for PS1 myself - I only have it for Saturn and the disc is unfortunately scratched in a way that prevents me from finishing it. Man, I've got to get another copy of it at some point...

well right no its either resident evil and mabe resident evil 2 for the ps1 or buy pikmin 2 for the wii. Both resident evil's would be great but I have a weird feeling that if I don't get a chance to pick up pikmin 2 for the wii by friday it may be too late to pick one up. Went to my walmart and sold out and now target across the street sold out. Hell I may just get the first one if I can find that for the wii.
