E3 2012 is happening or most likely has happened by the time you read this. People are excited about game trailers and all the gaming news. It has made me think; I don't remember this 'game trailer' culture as a child. I actually don't remember seeing any game trailers or videos besides commercials. All I had was Gamepro or EGM back in the day (not like it's even that retro). Most of the time I decided if I liked a game by how the graphics looked in a photo.
The early 90's had gaming events and E3 has been around for a long time, hasn't it? Were there ever any game trailers from the SNES/Genesis (or even earlier if you will) like the ones we see today?

So I remember seeing those commercials and those usually had gameplay in them. As far as trailers go I don't know of any. I remember when they started making trailers and thinking "wow this is just like the trailers they make for movies!" and it wasn't that long ago. Maybe 7 or 8 years?

Probably the only thing would pass for trailers is promo VHS tapes from the earlier to mid 90s.

I have a N64 VHS that I should really. I remember it had gameplay for upcoming games. It is pretty cool actually.
