Was Bradbury the last of the golden age of science fiction?

My second all-time favorite fiction author (behind Tolkien). Sad news. We've lost a giant.

We learned of the news here at my library about an hour ago. This one went straight to my heart. I logged in just to see if we already had a thread going.

Wah.

Well that sucks. Rachel Bloom is going to be upset too.

That's too bad. I enjoyed Fahrenheit 451.

Some of my favorite novels of all time are from Ray Bradbury. I remember clearly the first time I read The Martian Chronicles: It was dark, mysterious and strangely beautiful.

It's also uncanny how far ahead of his time he was with the world of Fahrenheit 451. Such a great writer.

The Martian Chronicles is the only book I ever bothered to own 2 copies of.

This is a sad day indeed. He was pretty old though. Even legends can't live forever.

No!

I wish I knew what to say. So sad to see him go.

I shall reread his work yet again, to honor his memory.

rest in peace, indeed.

if you guys are ever in indianapolis, the university i work for has the largest bradbury collection in the nation. you have to make an appointment to visit but there are several professors here who will gladly talk your ear off about bradbury and show you early and unfinished manuscripts with alternate endings and such.
