Is the Play it Loud Game Boy considered a different model?

Post by Pichu »

If I recall, it's just a paint job and an ad campaign?

I'd like to own one of every Game Boy (includes DS line) model there is, you know as one of those mini collection goals, but I have a hard time deciding if I should consider the Play it Loud as a seperate one. I'd still buy one if I found it cheap, but colors don't matter to me so long as I have one of every model.

Hmm.

They're not really different.

The only difference is the color and the faceplate. I think if you're SUPER hardcore about Game Boys, you can consider them a different model. Most people don't though. I'm pretty sure they're still DMG-01.

Both my original brick and my Play It Loud have the same model number (DMG-01), so they are identical in everything but their outerwear.

I would still say it's neat to own one, though. Even though it's technically no different from the original Game Boy, it's still a different slice of GB history and is special in its own gimmicky way.

Edit: Annnd Nemoide beats me to the punch!

I'd still like to own one someday, but it's nice to hear that confirmation.

Gives me one less step to completing my Game Boy Line. Thanks!
