I have been interested in this one ever since I saw the screenshots from it's presentation at E3 in 1998. I heard the game was almost finished and a playable Beta was recovered and was going to be released online.
Haven't heard anything about it in months though. Is it possible to buy a reproduction CD? Normally I oppose playing anything unless it's an original copy but I make exceptions for games that don't get released such as Half Life for the Dreamcast.
I would love a reproduction disc of Geist Force. Looks a bit like Panzer Dragoon Orta and it really seems to show off the Dreamcast's technical abilities. DAMN I WANT THIS GAME! SOMEBODY GIMME!
So whatever happened to Geist Force?

Check out http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/content.php for way to get hold of the beta.
Apparently its reasonably playable if you overclock the DC to be able to keep up with it. Not the most accessible game in the world.

you have to overclock it? So it's true then that the game is so advanced that even the Dreamcast's hardware has trouble running it. Maybe that's the reason why it was cancelled.
Re: So whatever happened to Geist Force?
There are YouTube videos of it. From what I have read and seen it is a beta unfinished playable game. Assembler is getting a pressed disc published, anyone who paid into the kitty ahead of time will eventually get the game in the pressed format. An unfinished "Starfox" style beta, but a nice piece of gaming history. Assembler's call to put the game up later as a download, hopefully the leechers posting demands for the download over there don't piss them off.

Slow down there turbo. It has difficulties running on Dreamcast simply because it was developed on ever so slightly earlier hardware than what was released that had moderately different specs. Additionally, since this is just a beta of the game as oppose to finished product, its safe to assume that the game may be heavily unoptimized for play on a DC, thus ghe need for overclocking the unit.you have to overclock it? Re: So whatever happened to Geist Force?
In any case, I love Panzer Dragoon Orta on Xbox and this game reminds me of it based on what I've seen from gameplay videos, therefore I must have it. Looks like I'm too late to acquire a copy from that group who is pressing discs since I didn't donate to them.
However, I think it's only a matter of time before one of those people who do get a copy place it on auction on ebay and I will be keeping a close eye.
I have the ultimate Dreamcast collection and that fact alone demands that this game belong to me.

Ultimate you say?Busomjack wrote: I have the ultimate Dreamcast collection and that fact alone demands that this game belong to me.
By chance do you have all three Shenmues on the dreamcast? Have you ever made a dreamcast cake? Do you have both Marvel vs. Capcom games?
Prove your ultimacitity and perhaps you will earn your desired game.

Agree, the my cock is bigger then yours is really getting stale. Why not just share game stories? Your Thread started out great drawing renewed interest to a beta game and went to crap once you started putting your meager collection above other members here.Luke wrote:Ultimate you say?Busomjack wrote: I have the ultimate Dreamcast collection and that fact alone demands that this game belong to me.
