There is some Mega Drive 2 on my local auction site (Europe). It offers a Mega Drive with accessoriess seen on the picture.
If i look on the system only i'd say it's definitely a japanese Model 2 with 2 japanese 6-button controller but there is a picture of the box which shows the same system but there is a spot on it: "European specification PAL * SEGA ORIGINAL *" and the SEGA logo.
Please help me identify this model

It has to be either unlicensed or have a very unique license where a Japanese MD2 shell was used with PAL insides. What country did it come from?
It is DEFINITELY a Japanese exterior.

yes my first thought was it is an unlicensed/fake one but isn't it looks too good(original) for being unlicensed?

Looks like it's pirated actually. Notice how the box has a pirated Zapper clone on it, which is something the Mega Drive never had...

I was gonna say something about the Master System light phaser... but looking again, that's definitely a Zapper.ApolloBoy wrote:Looks like it's pirated actually. Notice how the box has a pirated Zapper clone on it, which is something the Mega Drive never had...

I've seen that same Mega Drive box only without the gun in the corner.

and The box referenced on the wiki is for Asian territories. It specifically says so in that little emblem "Asian Specification PAL"ApolloBoy wrote:Looks like it's pirated actually. Notice how the box has a pirated Zapper clone on it, which is something the Mega Drive never had...
The box in question here says Europe and no such box seems to exist in the Europe territories. Comparing the two, the fonts, size and their placement on the box varies heavily as well.
Looks to me like someone tried to recreate the PAL territories box and used the Asian model for their pirated system.

Looks like someones thinking:)
I thought the same but there is something to keep in mind. Sega Asia and Sega Europe is 2 almost different companies. As someone wrote here: these multinational companies often doesn't even know what the other hand is doing.
If the graphic design and fonttypes on the box doesn't match it doesn't mean it's not official.
Btw how do you mean "pirated system"? The system itself is a replica or a licensed System (in Asia) selling in Europe?
Because i don't think it was worh pirating this system at the end of it's lifecylce - maybe not even the box.
I suspect it's a very rare instance. I try to get my hands on this stuff from the auction if the price doesn't go too high and post more pictures.
