Job searching ....?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Job searching ....?

Post by AznKhmerBoi »

Im currently employed, but working at the same place i've been getting bored and want to move on to greater things. For the last month or so i've been on job searching quest.

So as of right now im just sitting by the phone or computer waiting for that "okay you the job" email/phone call.

Ive been jobless since Spring 2008 and I'm sick of it. I'm just about to start hunting again now that my painful class schedule is out of the way. I've ended up selling some of my extra stuff in my collection and it's taking years to save up for my computer. More money = more games is correct. :)
What a maneuver!

You should consider becoming a personal trainer like me. It's a great line of work helping other people improve their health and get into shape and it has the potential for good pay. Plus being into nerdy things like video games and being in good shape is a great way to pick up hot nerdy cosplay girls at anime conventions. Trust me, I have had sex with many of them and it is in fact one of my favorite hobbies besides gaming.

I have several certifications but you just need one to get started in the industry. Unless of course you have a degree in kinesiology or exercise science/physiology. Then you don't need a certification.

I have the NSCA-CPT certification which is one of the more prestigious certifications to be sure but I am also certified by the ISSA which is a much easier certification that you can actually complete online. If you're looking to get started in the industry I reccommend going to for the easier certification since experience is more important than educational background anyways.

Even though the NSCA-CPT was my first certification I think the best thing to do is probably to get an easier certification and then try to earn a more prestigious one down the road.

Check out these websites.

https://www.issaonline.com/issa-info/personal-trainer-certification.cfm?refid=1271&gclid=CN37qvDwnrACFYje4AodcSzeVw

Other good certifications are the NASM, ACE, ACSM. The best certification is the NSCA-CSCS but you need an exercise related 4 year degree to be eligible to take it.

Yea i wouldnt mind being a personal trainer, but most my experience and degree that i;v obtain are in the IT field. Also my body frame doesnt fit mold for PT, small/medium frame with barely any muscles lol.

But yea i recently got interviewed for Unix Admin position and just been sitting around with my fingers crossed.

I've been looking at research studies. Sure, I'll take $300 to sleep overnight at your facility.
I actually declined a state job I worked at last year. 1k per month for about 7 months. 40 hours a week. Kind of kicking myself now, but I want to try to build up my sites, even if I have to suffer in the meantime. I know if I'm working 40 hours a week I'll get nothing accomplished.

You know, i just have to say it: between posts like this and the posts about your "better than everyone's" collection yesterday, it seems that you are coming to the forum with a lot of braggadocio. Just a bit of advice from someone who's been here a long time: that generally is looked down upon here, and it won't win you many (if any) friends in the community. If you'd like to stick around and talk about the finer points of retro gaming, I would recommend you dial it back a little. Otherwise you'll find that people are going to be very confrontational and/or dismissive about your posts.

I'm with ds on that one, lol...

Moving on, at the very least I would put up a resume on Careerbuilder and a few other good sites like that one if you haven't. That's how I landed this pharmacy tech job back in December. It took awhile to get results, but it certainly can't hurt to have that going while you look elsewhere and everything. Networking always seems to be the best way to land somewhere in my experience though in our age... just have to know people who can get you in places and stuff.

Not sure what else to say. Finding a job thesedays is a job in itself.

Pshhh, you guys are just jealous of the fems Busomjack reels in with his bitchin herbivore tee and incredible game collection. I mean, he has a picture of him holding Suikoden 2. What vagina laden creature wouldn't drool at that? I showed my gf his thread and she became so saturated in her nether region it was disgusting. I had to mop the floor! It was Guinness World Record™ worthy.

It's okay, I'm jealous of how extremely awesome he is for claiming to bang nerdy cosplay girls here on ye olde nette as well, it's nothing to be ashamed of. All we can really do is try to follow in his footsteps, heed his sage-like advise, and hope to be on his level some day.
