Any tips on tub storage?

Post by equalsign »

Hey all,

I was thinking about buying some of those big storage tubs from Home Depot or Wal-Mart to put my gaming stuff in. Is there anything to watch out for? Is moisture an issue? I don't really want to do any fancy, anti-static bag stuff unless it's really cheap and very important. I mostly just want to throw my crap in a couple bins. I'm at University and really don't have the space for it all.

Thanks in advance.

Moisture isn't really a problem. Especially seeing as you're in Utah.

Just stack your games nicely in the bins, close the lids, and when you come back they'll be as you left them. :)

Try to find some with sides that aren't too sloped and bottom corners that aren't too broadly rounded. It's annoying to have neatly packed things flopping back and forth because the top is wider and if you're putting boxed stuff in there, rounded bottom corners keep the boxes from sitting flat and you might ding up a box corner with heavy stuff put on top or if you forget and are trying to get 'just one more thing' in.

Good point about Utah. I wouldn't have thought about the rounded corners before buying, so I'm glad I asked. Thanks for the tips and for easing my fears.

I might need to look into something like this. I got some three-slot plastic drawer thing that I thought I'd like, but it hasn't done anything against dust at all...

It's pretty similar to this:

Not recommended!

I have one similar to this that I picked up at Big Lots a year or so ago. Except it's much taller... with the 3 bottom drawers being deeper bins (4 normal sized bins on top). I use it for all of my caseless/boxless carts and it works just fine for those purposes.

Not really sure how you're getting dust in there. :?

I have one of those three-drawer plastic things. It contains all my anime and manga. I filled the sucker up about a week after I bought it. :?

Does it get dusty? Maybe I just got a bad set or something, lol.
