Video game developer commentary tracks?
On the recent episode of All Gen Gamers it was mentioned that there was recently a video that surfaced of one of the id guys playing through Wolfenstein 3D and talking about as he played. I haven't tracked the video game down yet, but it got me to thinking about how DVD's will often have directory or cast commentary audio tracks. Are there more videos like the Wolfenstein 3D one? I can think of lots of games that I would love to watch the game makers play through and point out interesting things about it. So I guess it would be a "Let's Play" except it would be by someone that had actual first-hand insight rather than, y'know... just some dude.
Re: Video game developer commentary tracks?
At least a few of the Valve games have this.

Yeah, Valve games like Portal 1 & 2 and Half Life 2 have great developer commentary. You play the game and at various points there are added markers in the game that you can activate for developer commentary about that area of the game.

woah, really? That's way cooler than just watching a video. So these commentaries are just built into the game already, or is it some sort of mod?

I know the Portal ones are built in, though if I recall you need to finish the basic game first as the commentary menu lets you jump to whichever section of the game you want.

They are built into the game, but I think you have to beat the game to unlock them.

havent played them in a good while, but I think there's some commentary on some Ratchet and Clank games on the PS2.
Not in game though like the post says.

I've seen some of the commentary for Portal 1, which is really cool, and does indeed require beating the game first, but where is the commentary in Portal 2? I don't know if I realized the second one had this.

I think valve has been doing this since they released HL2 Episode 1. Long time ago.
