My first mod, ever. The first thing I did was change the front led from red to blue so that it matched the european dreamcast logo. I then removed the top of the shell and drilled 8 holes between the square 'bumps' around the disk lid. When gluing the leds in I made sure I could wire them in paralell so that the lights would all be the same brightness. After the leds had been glued in and soldered together I wired them to the front led.
Leave suggestions for my next dreamcast mod. Apart from this its still completely stock.

Looks cool! You should take a pic of it running in the dark as well.

Nice. You could flush them out by countersinking them a little. Do the LEDs just come on when power is applied or do some act as an access light, tied into the track motor? Okay just put a tease at you, imagine the lights flickering on and off from that track and drive motors.

I did counter sink them, I'm just not very good at it. The lights only come on when its powered on though, this mod is about as basic as it gets.CRTGAMER wrote:Nice. Looks great the way you added to the indentations with Sonic Blue lights.BrokenGeode wrote:I did counter sink them, I'm just not very good at it. Congratulations on your first mod. However, I don't think I'll ever understand the desire to add LEDs with no specific function to things just for the sake of adding LEDs lol

Re: Dreamcast led case mod
My first mod was to my Dreamcast. I have the black sports model and replaced the orange LED with a blue one. My wife says that it looks creepy. I like it much better than the orange.
Re: Dreamcast led case mod
Nice. Now stick an Arduino in there with a simple LED pattern program. Or crank it up to 11 and figure out how to interface that with Windows CE for in game effects.
Adding blue LED's to stuff is addicting... and it just looks cool.bdlou wrote:Because, dude, they are blue!deathsled wrote:Congratulations on your first mod. However, I don't think I'll ever understand the desire to add LEDs with no specific function to things just for the sake of adding LEDs lol

I'm not a fan of adding LED's to anything, however, you did a fantastically clean job. Good job.
