Music similar to this?

Post by rich2k4 »

I'm looking for music that is similar to stuff like Policenauts, Snatcher, Deus Ex, etc. Specifically songs that have a similar feel to the following: Doesn't have to contain all the elements of these tunes but i think they all share similar properties.

these each share that ambient type of feel. Sort of Blade Runnerish. I'd prefer something that is similar to the first two links, the policenauts tune and the streets of rage intro. I love that bluesy/jazzy cyberpunk/sci fi feel in songs.

Any suggestions?

As for Deus Ex, check out all the Unreal music (specifically not so much the UT's, but Unreal itself. Same composer and really just look into anything that used the MOD format, that stuff is incredible). Here's a random Unreal / DX playlist I made, and a completely random one of some MOD stuff, mostly Andrew Sega music.

The Sega CD versions of Ecco the Dolphin 1-2 have some amazing stuff, composer Spencer Nilsen. Wish he did more (also did Sonic CD US).

Hope that helps.

The backbeat to the Streets of Rage one sounds like it was ripped from an Enigma track.

The OST to Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines contains at least some tracks in the style you want, IE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUDvdBGb ... ure=relmfu

Maybe some parts of the Mass Effect music http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3RPPHbk28w

I've made twenty volumes of music compilations with a lot of music similar to what you described because I dig that sound, too. Check it out.

Funny, I said this in the music topic, but get on pandora and choose their preset station: chill out radio.

You could always get the soundtrack for Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I think that would fit in with what you're looking for.

The Journeyman Project Turbo comes immediately to mind:
Opening Sequence
World Science Centre

Xeogred beat me to the Sega CD Ecco stuff, but I think the Genesis Ecco music fits too:
Trellia's Bay
Inside Theme
Sea of Darkness
The Lagoon

X-Men 2: Clone Wars has a rougher and creepier sound, but possesses similarities:
Opening Level
Intro Theme

Also a couple of tracks from Sonic 3D Blast, although they might be a little more structured than what you're thinking of:
Final Boss
Rusty Ruin

I hope that's a help, but I have a feeling everything but the first few are somewhat off-track.
