Red blinking light on my PS3

Appears to be a hardware failure. (Green, yellow, Green then blinking red) Do i send it to sony? Are they still giving back old phat ps2 compatible ps3's? Or am I stuck with a slim model? What about a 3rd party doing the repairs? Suggestions?

Give them a call, not sure of the current repair price compared to a new slim. Sony will do an exact model swap as long as yours has not been tampered with.

Called Sony..... $130. Options are either get the same model back, (phat) ps3, or ps3 slim.... PHAT please...

I decided that is the best route to go.. just send it to sony.... bye bye game saves... (no i am not a plus user)

Also, the guy asked if i knew about the vita and if i did what did i think about it and that i should get one. LOL...

i said its to exspensive and the games are too exspensive and the memory cards to exspensive..

And asked if i wanted a PSP warranty for like $30 or $40..??? Screw that!!! Whatever.. just fix my system give me back my game also.

Good to know the Fats are still an option. As for the stuck disc, be sure to notate that on the Form, so it will get sent back. The tracking number for both the empty box and the return is a comical anxious watch. The repair is in Texas, weird how it hops all over the place from the West to the East coast and back again. The replacement is a used repair exchange, but you do get a brand new shiny shell. Good luck!

Thanks! Sad to see that my PS3 died. It lasted a good while, but i figure if this one dies, the PS3 slim's will be $200 or less brand new soon. Besides, who wouldnt want backwards compatibilty anyways...

my advice is to get the latest model. the older models are bound to have failures as you use it more. Remember when everybody though 360 had RROD, well, fat ps3 has the YLOD.

What happened to the OP just happened to me. Literally about 10 minutes ago. Mine was the old fat 60gb model.

I don't suppose there's going to be a PS4 announcement at E3 is there? If I go and pay $250 for a brand new PS3 Slim and find out that the next gen is only a year or two away I am going to be royally pissed off.

Well, fuck it. PC/3DS have been getting most of my attention lately. I have reached this weird point in my gaming life where I don't care if I miss out on Assassin's Creed 3 and I am drooling over the Mickey Mouse 3DS game and wishing for a Monster Hunter Tri G localization.

At this point I will probably just wait for the PS4... or buy a Vita just to show Sony I still care.
