Worst/Least Favorite Final Fantasy Game?

I remember playing FF XII only for a couple of hours before I turned it off. I hated the new battle system. Well I came across the collector's set at a pawn shop and decided to give it another shot. I am still not keen on the battle system, but the world seems massive and there is plenty to occupy your time. I'm still really early in the game, but I don't think it is going to hold up to other games in the series.
Another recent thread about FFVII turned into a spewing of hatred towards FFVIII. And I have heard people express quite a bit of ire towards FFX-2 (I've never played it, nor have I had the desire)

So what FF is the worst/least favorite of the series? VIII, X-2, XII, some other one, a spin off?

Seven is hands down the best final fantasy there has ever been.

Most people say either VI or VII is the best, I'm not sure myself.

As for worst? Every single game in the series has at least one person who thinks it's the worst ever. I pretty much don't like any of the FF games post-PS1, except for re-releases.

XII or XII. I liked combat of 13 but not story or characters. Combat was alright in XII but I enjoyed the plot and most of the characters.

I don't see how any rpg fan could hate VI...

It was a very poorly masked flame bait that was ruined by sev.

Honestly if I had to pick the worst final fantasy it would be hands down mystic quest I think it was for snes. That game was basically just babys first rpg. It's also the only final fantasy I've ever beaten.

IV would be among the top three choices, I'd say. I, II, III, V, and VIII (going by Japanese numbering here) aren't as popular for whatever reasons.
