Gonna be getting field experience with St. Paul Neighborhood Network (SPNN). A guy who runs the place was interested, as they apparently have a ton of production gigs this summer. Went to the interview today, and it is now official.
I am graduating from high school this school year, and will be going to college next year to double major in Film Production and Mass Comm. This will give me some excellent experience, as well as solid resume material under my belt. I am super happy right now.

What will you be doing? General PA work or something specific?
Re: Scored a Film Production Summer Internship
A lot of it is PA stuff, but they want me to get my hands on the camera at least a few times, as well as letting me edit things. They made it sound like I'll be doing more and more things as the internship goes by.fastbilly1 wrote:What will you be doing? General PA work or something specific?

Good on you. Internships are the best, and if you really knock there socks off you can expect a full time job after you graduate. An internship led to a great job for me.
Keep up the good work, and you deserve an "atta boy!".

Operating is fun, but Ill give you the advice my brothers who are all far more into the film industry than I am gave me: "If you are on set and not doing something, odds are you are doing something wrong." Even if it is simply sweeping the floor or moving boxes, help wherever you can. Hell I cleaned toilets for a while when working on a set.scarper wrote:A lot of it is PA stuff, but they want me to get my hands on the camera at least a few times, as well as letting me edit things. My direct advice to you is to buy a set of flippads and a box of pens and write down everything you can - flippads dont run out of batteries, type your notes up when you get home. Keep pens and pencils on you at all time, laser pointer if that is what the DP or Director like to use. Keep a second set of clothes in your car at all times - you will get dirty. And, once you get the flow of whats going on down, be there to help before someone asks. Unless the it is a heavy union set, you can can get alot of hands on training fast that will be invaluable.
Also, advice from a friend of a friend who use to be in radio - "Dont zero out a mixer, unless the sound engineer tells you to."
What do you ultimately want to do in the industry anyway?
