My brother-in-law has an extra 360 and said he can just give it to me when he visits in August.
I have a PS3 and most of the current gen games I want (ie. not that many overall).
What the heck is on the 360 that is even worth playing?
I am only really interested in shoot 'em ups, 2D platformers and arcade-style racers. I don't mind fighting games if they are cheap. Any interesting games are also... interesting.
I have zero intention of signing up for XBL (so no Castle Crashers, Guardian Heroes HD, RSS HD, Ikaruga (I have it on GCN), etc.).
If it's on the PS3 and it's something I want, then I probably already own it and don't want to buy it again on the 360.
Off the top of my head:
Ridge Racer 6
PGR games
DoA 4
Raiden IV
Raiden Fighers Aces
Deathsmiles
Otomedius Excellent (only if it's cheap, since I didn't really dig it that much)
...ummm... whatever region-free JP shoot 'em ups there are.
Is there any easy way to make a 360 region-free?
Maybe getting an X-Box 360...

Re: Maybe getting an X-Box 360...
There's a couple physical-release XBLA compilations. I have the 3 pack as well as Qubed, which are both excellent. Not sure how many others there are.
Deadly Premonition also qualifies as "interesting," though you might already have Red Seeds Profile. If you don't already have Bayonetta, I hear the 360 version is better and it should be pretty cheap these days.
Do you have an original Xbox? There a great library to mine there as well.

Yeah, I have an oXBox with 42 games. I have pretty much everything on it that I want (most of the Sega stuff, of course!).sabrage wrote:There's a couple physical-release XBLA compilations. I have the 3 pack as well as Qubed, which are both excellent. Not sure how many others there are.

I can see how Deadly Premonition might be interesting, but it's not really my thing. The XBLA compilations are a good idea, sure... but they'd have to be cheap I think. I have Rez on PS2. Don't really need SotN or Super Contra as I have a bunch of other versions of SotN and am happy with Super C on NES. Hmmm...

You do not have to sign up for xbox live to use the xbox arcade.
Ninja edit unless you are against downloadable games you should really be getting xbla games.
Double ninja edit rez is on psn? Where?

I got my compilations for about $10 each new, and there's no codes or anything preventing you from getting them second-hand. There might have been some sort of HDD installation but I have no idea whether it's mandatory or not. Unfortunately the 3-Pack has no real manual to speak of, but the three titles on the disk are amongst my highest recommendations from the XBLA library.

I was under the wrong impression that I couldn't go online at all without a subscription. So, downloadables are a go then I guess. Cool. Is there a limit to the number of 360 consoles I can have my downloadables on? I'll definitely be checking out the shop, then.flex wood wrote:You do not have to sign up for xbox live to use the xbox arcade.

There is gold and silver live membership. Gold is for multiplayer mostly. Silver basically just the ability to go to the xbla arcade I think. But yea there is some really good stuff on xbla I don't know if you're in to metroidvanias if you are I highly recommend shadow complex.
