Are there any update of this game, or at least a spiritual successor? For me, this is the best a video game could emulate the Dragon Ball Z experience. It's just so chaotic. I had fun with the Budokai series, but this one is one of the best games of the PS1 era, and of fighting, in my humble opinion.
Here's some video link:

Ahhh yes. Legends. Or, Idainaru Dragon Ball Densetsu as it's known in Japan. How I love this game. I spent many hours playing this one back in the day. Hella fun! And I agree with you in that it could be the best example of a fighter that resembled how the fights were in the anime (very fast and chaotic). Especially when you're connecting combos in mid-air..bouncing from screen to screen. So damn amazing. For me it's easily the best DBZ game on the PSX.
As far as a sequel, or "spiritual successor" goes, there is none. The Saturn version is one to consider, even though it is practically the same game with a few minor differences. I prefer the PSX version, myself, cause of the way it looks. Graphics are much smoother and nicer to look at.

I had that game back when I was 5 years old 'til I was 8. Definitely the only good DB game for PSX gameplay-wise. I call this game the "early Budokai Tenkaichi" due to its anime-like chaotic battles.
