QanBa/Eightarc arcade sticks

Post by ZenErik »

So, I have my Hori Real Arcade Pro sticks for sale, and here is why. Telling you why isn't going to help my Hori sticks sell any faster, but I thought it might be useful information for arcade stick fans.

I purchased two QanBa Q4 RAF arcade sticks at PAX East/Anime Boston. QanBa is a Chinese company. These particular sticks are compatible with Xbox 360, PS3, and PC and use all Sanwa parts. In addition, they have a nice heftier feel than the HRAP sticks I formerly used and a convenient handle.

My primary reason is being able to plug and play with the 360, PS3, and PC. I know I can purchase adapters for the Hori sticks or do some modding, but I really do not care to. The quality of these sticks appears to be very very good. We shall see how they hold up over time.

The QanBa Q4 RAF also comes with caps and a headset, if that interests you. Doesn't matter to me.

Anyway, check them out. Videogames New York is an official US dealer for QanBa. http://www.videogamesnewyork.com/ They can also be found on eBay and probably plenty of other websites as well. I know Play-Asia has them.

And if you're interested in some Hori sticks (and 1 360 Madcatz) feel free to send a PM my way. :P

Do you know if they can accomodate a Seimitsu LS stick, a 32, or a 56 or something? I've been thinking about finally getting around to swapping the Sanwa in my HRAP3 for a Seimitsu for shmup action, but these look awesome, especially with the cross-console compatibility. Not sure if I want to hassle switching out a stick if I'm just going to get a new one to have to switch.
My Want List!

Consoles: Sega Master System, NES Toploader, Genesis/32X, Sega CDX, SNES, 3DO FZ-1, Sega Saturn, Nintendo 64, Sega Dreamcast, Sony PS2, Nintendo Gamecube, Xbox Halo Edition, Wii, PS3
Handhelds: Atari Lynx, Sega Nomad, Neo Geo Pocket Color, GBC (Atomic Purple, Pokemon Edition), GBA (Pink OG, Silver SP, Spongebob SP+), DS (Phat, iXL), 3DS, PSP (1000, Go)

I am not sure. My feeling would be yes. Here is a picture I found of the inside. See what you think.

I have seen some complaints about the start button placement, but I do not see how that would be a problem unless you have no control over your hand. However, if it IS a problem, you can look at Eightarc, an American rebrand of QanBa. Their sticks replace the "mode" button with a "start" button on top. "mode" switches between d-pad and left stick for use on the PS3 and PC. Not sure how things work without it. Probably still easy enough to get working on PC doujins.

Also, clear plexy glass can be ordered for these sticks, making custom art work very easy. :) I am thinking about it. I would really like to pop some DoDonPachi DaiOuJou art in one and maybe BlazBlue art in the other. Bah, probably not worth it.

I've seen them in the VGNY store and I've also seen them for sale on the FocusAttack website. Look pretty sweet, but I've never actually used one.
