I think I have just found a way in which it would be theoretically possible to get a never ending supply of free retro consoles and games for the rest of your life.

Anybody care to put this theory to the test? It would make for an interesting long-term experiment to see if it were possible.

My problem is that I'm a collector; I never sell anything. lolsenseiman wrote:I think I have just found a way in which it would be theoretically possible to get a never ending supply of free retro consoles and games for the rest of your life.

Lol, this is essentially what the B/S/T forum here is for. Between the 40 or so active traders, we have all owned some part of each others collections at one point or another. It's pretty nuts.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Indeed! I'd say at least half of my collection came from Racketboy, including 6 of my consoles (both Geneses, the Dreamcast, Saturn, TopLoader, 32X, and soon to be Game Cube) and my GBA SP.Flake wrote:Lol, this is essentially what the B/S/T forum here is for. I've proved this theory to be quite true. In fact, I actually profit at the same time that my collection grows. I buy games cheap whenever I can, sell them for more on Ebay, then use some of the money to buy games I actually want.

I could not have said it better. I paid for most of my Naomi arcade stuff this way.BoringSupreez wrote:I've proved this theory to be quite true. I started typing out a list of my Racketboy acquired stuff and it quickly got gross. For example: I own five different gamecubes and five gameboy players. I have never bought a piece of gamcube hardware from an actual store.o.pwuaioc wrote:Indeed! If I had to guess, at least 70% of my collection is courtesy of this site.

Re: How to Get Free Retro Game Consoles and Games Forever
nice blog sean, I liked the post about the PS3's power consumption. It's a topic that I really care about (primarily because the cost of electricity in here is ridiculous, due to deregulation and lack of competition).
I find it odd that energy consumption is also not that big of a priority when it comes to PC gaming. I mean, sure, there are efforts to make videocards energy efficient, especially with the advent of throttling, but it's kind of ridiculous that there are videocards that consume more power than the rest of the PC combined, and the graphics quality is not really that much of an improvement over midrange cards. (also, that most hardware recommendations re videocards and CPUs usually neglect the fact that a component that is more expensive but consumes less power usually pays for itself over time with the amount you save on electricity).
EDIT: Ooops, sorry for ranting and going off topic.
