I just finished playing Gears of War 3 on Hardcore mode, and I have to say, I'm disappointed for a number of reasons:
1) First of all, the game seemed REALLY easy. Gears 1 and 2 actually seemed a lot more challenging and there were several parts in each game that actually required a certain amount of skill and patience to overcome - that doesn't seem to be the case in GOW3 (at least for me). The battles were small in scale and seemingly unloseable - whenever I was knocked down, one of the AI players was always right there to revive me immediately. This is convenient, sure, but takes some of the fun away from the game too.
2) The boss fights suffer from the same thing. Nothing even remotely challenging, and they actually seem difficult to LOSE. Even the final boss wasn't a challenge. Remember General RAAM from Gears 1? I banged my head against the wall for two solid hours trying to beat him (I never use the internet unless I'm truly stuck in a game). It took me two tries to kill the last boss in GOW3, which I was disappointed with.
Overall, I feel like the game was decent, but not a worthy successor to Gears 1 and 2. The challenge just wasn't there for me, but maybe I'm alone in this. Would like to hear your thoughts on the game!

Gears of War 3 is out?
Wow, I'm out of it. Need to beat the 2nd one. . .

Gears 2's difficulty seemed just about right. 1 was a bit tough (especially the RAAM fight), 3 was too easy as you point out. It didn't really hamper my enjoyment of the game though, as it was probably the best game in the trilogy in every other way.

3 really isn't that much easier than 2. One is still the hardest. You can't go by 'Hardcore', because it really isn't the big challenge. Insane in 3 makes a decently large jump. The final boss battle is the only thing for me that was aggrivating, seeing as it was more about the large amount of small enemies on your level...

It was still an enjoyable game and the difficulty didn't really affect me.

Re: Gears of War 3 - where did the challenge go?
Gears is without a doubt my favorite current-gen series. I love all the games to death.
But I disagree with you about the challenge.
I thought the first one was difficult, up until the end. I was very disappointed at the fight with RAAM. Two minutes and he was dead and gone? No epic fight? Just stay in the light and fire a couple of mags and he's dead?!
Gears 2 is my favorite of the bunch. The difficulty was even and the challenge developed as you progressed.
The third one was about as difficult as the other two, in my honest opinion, just not as even as the first one. But I did think it was a worthy end to the series. The first one was dark war, everything was destroyed. In the second one, nature was taking over what we had left and in the third one, nature was back and as we lost our hope, we found a new!
Ah man... I have to play them again. I don't know how many times I've beaten them now. But it's without a doubt the best stories and campaigns in video game history, in my opinion.

I gotta agree here. My earlier post wasn't as well done. This is a great way to put it. RAAM was a real dissapointment. If you know the right way to kill him, it's easy. Blind fire active Lancer and Sniper do wonders on RAAM.Jungell wrote:Gears is without a doubt my favorite current-gen series. I love all the games to death.

I gotta disagree here. RAAM was to the hardest and best boss battle out of the entire series. Took me well over ten tries to beat him and as frustrating as it was, I loved fighting him. I beat Skorge first try. Wasn't impressed really at all.
Anyways just my .02 carry on

Haha! Then I guess it was 50/50 with luck on RAAM, if you by change got the strategy down on the first try you were in for a disappointing finale!MulishaSoldier929 wrote:Forlorn Drifter wrote:I gotta agree here.
